Soundwaves: Twinless Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music by Jung Jaeil

Lakeshore Records has released Twinless Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, September 19 with an original score by Emmy-nominated composer Jung Jaeil (Squid Game, Parasite). Jung utilizes strings, synths and piano creating a score that is gently melodic yet mournful and subtly pulsing with an underlying tension. The film released by Roadside Attractions written and directed by James Sweeney and starring Dylan O’Brien is in theaters now.

In Twinless, two young men meet in a twin support group and form an unlikely friendship. Roman (Dylan O’Brien) and Dennis (James Sweeney) both search for solace and an identity without their other halves and soon become inseparable outside the group. But when Roman meets Dennis’ ebullient co-worker, Marcie (Aisling Franciosi), all is revealed to be not what it seems, as each man harbors secrets that could unravel everything.

Notes Jung: “An astonishing film that captures the sorrow of loss, the longing for love, and the desperate lies we tell to keep going – all with raw honesty.”

ABOUT JUNG JAEIL

Jaeil Jung is a South Korean composer, music director, and multi-instrumentalist recognized for his genre-crossing film scores and work across cinema, theater, and orchestral projects. His collaborations with director Bong Joon-ho on the films Okja and Parasite brought his work to international attention.

In Okja (2017), Jung composed a score that combined lyrical, melodic passages with more percussive and electronic textures, reflecting the film’s tonal shifts between fantasy and industrial dystopia. For Parasite (2019), he employed classical chamber instrumentation and minimal piano themes to support the psychological tension of the narrative. The music was widely noted for its subtle presence and integration into the film’s overall atmosphere.

Jung further solidified his global reputation through his work on Netflix’s Squid Game series, having composed the full scores for Seasons 1 through 3. His music for the series earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination and made him the first Korean winner of the Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA), where he was honored for Best Original Score in a TV Show/Limited Series.

Originally trained as a jazz pianist, Jung released his first solo album at the age of 17. Over time, he has developed a musical language that incorporates traditional Korean instruments, Western orchestration, and contemporary sound design. In 2024, he released the solo piano album Listen through Decca Records, presenting a deeply introspective collection of compositions that highlight his lyrical sensibility and minimalist touch.

With Mickey 17 (2025), he continues to explore emotionally immersive scoring approaches in an international production context. His body of work reflects a strong commitment to narrative sensitivity and stylistic versatility within contemporary film music.
