Soundwaves: 56 Days Prime Original Series Soundtrack Music by Nathan Barr is Available Now

Lakeshore Records is set to release 56 Days (Prime Original Series Soundtrack), digitally today, February 18 with an original score by Emmy-winning composer Nathan Barr (True Blood, The Diplomat). Barr creates supremely ominous soundscapes that augment the obsessive affair of the main characters and the overall tension of the erotic thriller series.  56 Days is now available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

56 Days follows Oliver and Ciara, who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other fast, and dangerously hard. Fifty-six days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver’s apartment to find an unidentified body—brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed. Did he kill her? Did she kill him? Intercutting between an intense single day in the present investigation, and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers’ affair in the past, the series is both a unique crime story and a riveting, sexy, psychological thriller. This erotic thriller stars Dove Cameron, Avan Jogia, Karla Souza and Dorian Missick.

Notes Barr: “The wild and unpredictable ride that is ‘56 Days’ was a great platform for a score created entirely of bespoke musical sounds. Old musical objects were plucked, struck, and pushed into contemporary soundscapes that helped tell the unsettling story of Ciara and Oliver.”

ABOUT NATHAN BARR

Nathan Barr is an Emmy-winning composer known for his innovative and versatile work in film and television. Barr’s career is marked by a distinctive ability to blend traditional orchestration with unconventional sound design, creating scores that are both emotionally evocative and sonically unique.

He first garnered attention with his work on the acclaimed HBO series “True Blood,” where his distinctive soundscapes and ability to capture the series’ dark, atmospheric essence made a significant impact. His work on “True Blood” earned him widespread recognition and solidified his reputation as a composer with a unique voice. Nathan has since scored many TV shows including the critically acclaimed FX series “The Americans”, Ryan Murphy’s limited Netflix series “Halston” and “Hollywood” (for which he won an Emmy), “The Diplomat” on Netflix, “The Great” on Hulu and more recently Season 4 of “The Morning Show” on Apple TV+. Nathan has scored more than 50 feature films from horror classics Cabin Fever, Hostel and The House With A Clock In It’s Walls to Apple’s 2023 comedy Beanie Bubble, starring Elizabeth Banks and Zach Galifianakis. His upcoming projects include 56 Days, an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Catherine Ryan Howard, starring Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia on Amazon Prime and the drama Tow, starring Rose Byrne and Octavia Spencer for which he is collaborating with Este Haim from the band Haim.

Central to Nathan’s unique musical vision is Bandrika Studios, an 8500 square foot recording studio in Los Angeles which he completed in 2018. The studio is constructed around a historic 1928 Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ which is installed in six rooms and contains more than 1300 pipes. Once housed at the Newman Scoring stage at 20th Century Fox Studios, Nathan lovingly restored the instrument and has given it a new home at his studio. The instrument has a long history in film and can be heard in such classics as The Sound Of Music, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Empire of the Sun, Home Alone, and hundreds of other films. Nathan opened the studio to other composers and artists in 2024. Among those who have recorded at Bandrika are Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Megan Trainor, John Legend, Danny Elfman, John Powell, Nigel Olsson, Mychael and Jeff Danna, John Legend, Michael Giacchino, and Kris Bowers, to name a few. The studio is home to a world-class collection of musical instruments and its scoring stage can accommodate up to 50 musicians and has become one of the finest recording studios in Los Angeles.
