Vids: Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe Arrives in U.S. Theaters May 15

The battle for the fate of the Universal Century (U.C.) continues as Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe arrives in U.S. theaters Friday, May 15. The latest film adaptation of the trilogy will debut nationwide following its release in Japan earlier this year, where it outperformed its predecessor, Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, grossing approximately  2.4 billion yen ($15,064,778 USD) in comparison to the first film’s 2.23 billion yen ($14,437,079 USD) Japan box office performance.

Directed by Shukou Murase, the animation is produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks’ Sunrise Animation Studios and features the powerful voice performance of Kensho Ono as Hathaway Noa. Delivering breathtaking mobile suit battles, emotional depth, and stunning animation, the film builds on the cinematic journey of Hathaway, who leads the resistance movement MAFTY against a corrupt Earth Federation. Faced between duty and the remnants of his past, Hathaway must prepare for battle against the Adelaide Conference.

“The enthusiasm from fans has truly been remarkable,” said Naohiro Ogata, Bandai Namco Filmworks’ Executive Producer. “We’re thrilled to now bring Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe to U.S. theaters, giving even more fans the opportunity to experience the action, emotion, and spectacle of Hathaway’s epic mission the way it was meant to be seen, on the big screen.”

About Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe

The year is U.C.0105, twelve years after Char’s Rebellion. “MAFTY” has begun resisting the Federation government’s tyrannical rule by assassinating its ministers. Its leader is actually Hathaway Noa, the son of Bright Noa, who fought in the One Year War alongside Amuro Ray. Haunted by past trauma, Hathaway is drawn to a mysterious girl named Gigi Andalucia, whose strange powers stir memories within him. While swayed by her cryptic words, he continues preparing for MAFTY’s mission — the attack on the Adelaide Conference. Kenneth Sleg of the Earth Federation Forces prepares a defense operation for the Adelaide Conference and a plan to eliminate MAFTY and is approached by Handley Yoxon of the Criminal Police Organization with a secret proposal. As Hathaway and Kenneth pursue their respective goals, Gigi also sets off for Hong Kong to fulfill her own role.

Guns N’ Roses Special Collaboration art

To celebrate the North American theatrical release, a special collaboration art has been unveiled featuring Guns N’ Roses—who perform the film’s ending theme song “Sweet Child O’ Mine”—and iconic mobile suits from the Gundam series. The collaboration art centers on the Xi Gundam, replacing Gundam face imagery with Guns N’ Roses’ signature key art to create a special design that fuses the legacy of rock music with the Gundam franchise.
