The Soundtrack from the Netflix Series Dept. Q, composed by 3x Emmy-winner Carlos Rafael Rivera (The Queen’s Gambit, Godless), is now available on all major digital platforms, launching in tandem with the Netflix premiere of the highly anticipated crime drama. Reuniting with acclaimed filmmaker Scott Frank, Rivera crafts a propulsive score that anchors the show’s brooding atmosphere and emotional depth.

Rivera says, “As we were getting started on Dept. Q, Scott sent me a playlist featuring bands like Flogging Molly, The Tartan Rockers, and Dropkick Murphys. There was an aggression and muscularity in that music that Scott wanted translated into our story. Alongside that, we have our main character, DCI Carl Morck – a man whose life is in free fall – so the melody of the main title keeps descending. But my favorite part of the process was that the harmonic bed was built on a set of chords Scott himself had written. It made perfect sense to connect all these ideas into what became the main title of Dept. Q.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Ryan Coogler, director of “Black Panther” and “Creed” and starring Michael B. Jordan, the critically acclaimed film has a “certified fresh” 97% Rotten Tomatoes score and is among the highest grossing horror movies of all time with a global box office of more than $316 million. “Sinners” posted the largest opening for an original film since “Us” was released in 2019 and is the only horror film in over 35 years to receive an “A” CinemaScore.

Soundwaves: The Original Picture Soundtrack for Fountain of Youth by Chris Benstead is Available Now!

Lakeshore Records is set to release Fountain of Youth—Soundtrack from the Apple Original Film digitally today, May 23 with music composed by Academy and BAFTA Award-winner Chris Benstead (The Gentleman). In crafting the score, Benstead designed a rich musical landscape where sound itself becomes a key—literally. A specific sequence of notes is the secret to unlocking the hidden entrance to the fabled fountain, embedding the music directly into the film’s mythology.
