The Marvel Minimates in Diamond Select Toys’ upcoming “Strange Ta

However, new photographic evidence has surfaced that captures the box set’s four characters in their natural habitats, proving once and for all that these Minimates are real… and awesome! Training Simulations: DuckTales Remastered Announced by Capcom
Capcom ended its panel at the PAX East convention last week w
ith the announcement that three titles from its revered catalogue – DuckTales , Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara – are making a welcome return on multiple platforms in the coming months. Originally released in 1989 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, DuckTales was widely acknowledged as one of that generation’s seminal platform titles. Taking its cue from the Disney cartoon series of the same name, DuckTales Remastered follows the adventures of Scrooge McDuck as he explores differently themed worlds to collect their treasures and become the world’s richest duck. I can honestly say it was also my first peek into electronic 8-bit music love…it’s so bad, it’s awesome. Go moon theme GO! Continue reading
Equipment: Star Trek Klingon Disruptor from Diamond Select Toys
The Klingons are a culture steeped in tradition, shrouded i
n mystery and fueled by combat. The evolution of Klingons has been quite drastic. The Klingons that were once a race of conniving, smooth cranium warmongers has become a species that prides itself on honor and duty. What hasn’t changed is their love of combat and weapons. When not trying to kill an opponent with one of a variety of edged weapon they go to the old stand-by, a Klingon Disruptor. This weapon is larger than its Federation counterpart and like the Klingons themselves it is very intimidating looking. Continue reading

Equipment: Diamond Select Toys Star Trek Original Series Landing Party Kit
I have been a fan of Star Trek for as long as I can remember
. According to my father I could recite Kirk’s “Space the final frontier” speech verbatim from the age of 5. One of my fondest Trek related memories comes from when I was in 3rd grade. I had arrived home from school and after changing out of my uniform my mother presented me with the AMT Exploration Kit, which consisted of a tricorder, phaser and communicator. The models had already been assembled by my cousin Anthony, meaning I didn’t have to wait to play with them. I loved that set. Sadly over the years those models gave in to the ravages of time. The good thing is that Diamond Select Toys now has a modern take on that model kit and it is amazing. Continue reading
Food Packs: Hot Doug’s The Sausage Superstore and Encased Meat Emporium
After hearing so much about Hot Doug’s from television (No Reservat
ions) and the internet I thought, since I was in Chicago, I needed to make the pilgrimage. Seemingly situated away from any type of public transportation Hot Doug’s really draws a crowd. Here we were on a rainy Friday afternoon standing in line for hot dogs…seriously? I was assured that had I come on a Saturday the line would have been longer but either way it was worth the wait. Continue reading
