Lakeshore Records is set to release 
The Last Rodeo—Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, May 23 featuring music by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Russo (Fargo, Ripley). Russo creates a gorgeous and gritty backdrop to the emotional interactions between a father and daughter and the intensity of the bull riding world. The Last Rodeo, directed by Jon Avnet and starring Neal McDonough, is in theaters beginning today.
The Last Rodeo shares the story of Joe Wainwright (Neal McDonough), an aging retired champion bull rider, and his daughter Sally (Sarah Jones) who face a crisis that can only be solved by Joe entering and winning a bull riding competition. Joe must connect with a bull fighter and his estranged best friend of many years, Charlie Williams (Mykelti Williamson) to enter the legends contest as the oldest contestant in history. Despite strained relations with his strong-willed daughter, he must confront his demons and consider the greatest sacrifice for his family.
Notes Russo: “Working on this film, with Jon Avnet, was a joy. The emotional ride our characters take made the writing fall right into place. It gave me an opportunity to write emotionally deep and yet joyful pieces that really lent itself to the rodeo backdrop.”

In 2003, the band received two Grammy nominations, one for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” for “Take Me As I Am”, and one for “Best Rock Album.” Russo also received a BAFTA nomination for Best Music for Annapurna Interactive’s video game, What Remains of Edith Finch.
