Dark Horse Comics presents Groo: Minstrel Melodies, a new miniseries by Eisner Award-winning creators Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier. Written by Aragonés and Evanier, illustrated by Aragonés, lettered by Stan Sakai, and colored by Carrie Strachan, this new series follows the Groo-verse’s hapless wandering minstrel and his smart daughter, Kayli.

Traveling from town to town, the minstrel and Kayli sing tales of Groo wherever they go, bringing laughter, joy, and lessons to the townsfolk…and hopefully some kopins to their pockets! Groo’s foolishness is endless, so there will be four issues of entertaining stories that both celebrate Groo’s unique idiocy and warn others of his deadly deeds.

E.V.A.-Motor City Comic Con at the Suburban Collection Showcase

Convention season is underway and it is time for Motor City Comic Con. Established in 1989, Motor City has grown into a massive pop culture event for the whole family. When we arrived at the Suburban Collection Showcase we were blown away by just how many cars were in the lots and how many overflow lots were needed. Some of the lots were so far away that shuttle buses were provided to get people to the main building.

Lakeshore Records is set to release The Silent Service—Prime Video Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally today, May 17, featuring music by composer Yoshihiro Ike (Shadowverse). The tension-filled orchestral score mixes eerie, mournful strings with heavy percussion to create a forbidding backdrop to the naval thriller.  The film and TV series starring Takao Osawa are streaming now on Prime Video.

This summer, Adam Nimoy—yes, THAT Nimoy—shares moving, behind the scenes details in his memoir, THE MOST HUMAN: Reconciling with My Father,Leonard Nimoy (June 4, 2024; Chicago Review Press).

While the tabloids and fan publications portrayed the Nimoys as a “close family,” to his son, Adam, Leonard Nimoy was a total stranger. The actor was as inscrutable as the iconic half-Vulcan science officer he portrayed on Star Trek, even to those close to him. Now, his son’s poignant memoir explores their complicated relationship and how it informed his views on marriage, parenting, and later, sobriety. Despite their differences, both men ventured down parallel paths: marriages leading to divorce, battling addiction, and finding recovery. Most notably, both men struggled to take the ninth step in their AA journey: to make amends with each other.

Motor City Comic Con (MC3) is Michigan’s largest and longest running comic book and pop culture convention since 1989, will be taking place this weekend. The event will feature some of the largest actors from television, movies, and the streaming industry, along with the most creative artists, writers, and comic book creators in the industry.
