Anime distributor AnimEigo and parent company MediaOCD announce the upcoming home media Blu-ray release of Bubblegum Crisis: Perfect Collection on February 11th.

A hurricane that started in Japan and hit America

Originally released in Japan starting in 1987, and an OVA (Original Video Animation) mega-hit among the early American anime scene, Bubblegum Crisis is the show that put AnimEigo on the map. Over the years the series, and its unique noir blend of mecha, cute girls, 80s J-pop, and cyberpunk dystopia, has inspired countless imitators. It stands as a seminal work in the world of Japanese science fiction and is a landmark part of anime history. Two years ago, at Motor City Comic Con I was fortunate enough to meet the guys from Harvinger Studios and I was blown away by the craftsmanship that went into their figures. I asked them what their goal was and they told me they wanted to make extremely poseable figures with great detail and from what I have seen I think they have reached that goal.

Last week I was completely surprised to receive a package from Havinger Studios containing a 1/12th figure and I couldn’t wait to do a review. The figure was the Veteris Rapax from the Savage Crucible line.

Director Jake Kasdan’s (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Bad Teacher) Christmas action-adventure comedy Red One, from Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, will be available for purchase on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 4, 2025.
