Lakeshore Records is set to release
Scarpetta (Prime Original Series Soundtrack), digitally today, March 13 with music by Emmy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated composer Jeff Russo (Alien Earth), and longtime co-composer Perrine Virgile (Fargo). The sophisticated orchestral score reaches dramatically ominous heights providing a vivid backdrop to the crime thriller series based on Patricia Cornwall’s iconic heroine. From Blumhouse Television, Scarpetta is now available on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
About Scarpetta From Emmy-nominated writer, executive producer, and showrunner Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost) comes Scarpetta, a chilling crime thriller that unfolds across two timelines. This dual narrative explores “Kay Scarpetta’s” (Nicole Kidman) journey from her beginnings as a Chief Medical Examiner in the late ’90s to her present-day return to her hometown, where she resumes her former position while investigating a grisly murder. As Scarpetta pursues justice, she must navigate complicated relationships, including the fraught dynamic with her sister “Dorothy Farinelli” (Jamie Lee Curtis), confront long-held professional and personal grudges, and face secrets that threaten to unravel everything she’s built.
Scarpetta is executive produced by Nicole Kidman and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Jamie Lee Curtis through Comet Pictures, writer and showrunner Liz Sarnoff through Sarnoff TV, author Patricia Cornwell through P & S Projects, as well as Jason Blum, Jeremy Gold, Chris Dickie, and Chris McCumber through Blumhouse Television. David Gordon Green directed five episodes and also serves as executive producer alongside Amy Sayres. Jeff Russo is an Emmy Award-winning and Grammy-nominated composer, scoring varied and compelling music for film, television and video games.

Russo’s film credits include Olatunde Osunsanmi’s Star Trek: Section 31; Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Rob Peace, which premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival; Bartlett Sher’s Oslo, which he co-scored with Zoë Keating and for which he received an Emmy nomination; Paul Dektor’s American Dreamer, which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival; Sabrina Doyle’s Lorelei, which premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival; Noah Hawley’s Lucy in the Sky, which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival; Peter Berg’s action-thriller film, Mile 22; and Jon Avnet’s Three Christs, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.

In addition to composing music for film and television, Russo is a founding member, lead guitarist and co-songwriter of two-time Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling rock band,Tonic. Their debut album, Lemon Parade, posted three singles in the U.S. Mainstream rock charts’ Top 10 with “If You Could Only See” rocketing to number one. In 2003, the band received two Grammy nominations, one for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” for “Take Me As I Am”, and one for “Best Rock Album.” Russo also received a BAFTA nomination for Best Music for Annapurna Interactive’s video game, What Remains of Edith Finch.
ABOUT PERRINE VIRGILE
Perrine Virgile is a French composer based in Los Angeles, CA. After studying classical music at the French conservatory for twelve years and receiving a degree in Sound Engineering in Nice, France, Perrine moved to Boston, MA at 20 years old to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She graduated in late 2014 with a dual major in Film Scoring and Music Business, and moved to Los Angeles early 2015 to pursue her career as a film composer.
Perrine first got her start working alongside composer Jeff Russo (“Fargo”, “Star Trek Picard”, “The Man Who Fell To Earth”) for seven years. Perrine’s recent work can be heard on TV shows “The Act” (Hulu), “Counterpart” (Starz), “Channel Zero” (Syfy), “Cursed” (Netflix) and movies, such as “Lizzie” (selected for Sundance), as well as additional arrangements for movies “Mile 22”, “Submission” and “Three Christs”, and video game “What Remains of Edith Finch”. Most recently, she completed the music for short films “Before the Storm” (selected for the Manhattan Film Festival) and is co-credited as composer for the Netflix hit series “The Umbrella Academy” seasons 2 and 3, which earned her a 2022 BMI award.
Perrine’s most recent work includes the 2022 BET series “Long Slow Exhale.”
Perrine has also been focusing on her solo works over the years. She has performed and
conducted world premieres of her pieces “Life was so beautiful then” and “Ten Years” with the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra for the Future is Female: a Concert for Women in Film concert series. She was also one of the eight featured composers of the Emerging Hollywood Composers Concert at the Endless Mountain Music Festival, where her newest concert piece,“ Odyssey of the new World” was performed live with orchestra.
Her first orchestral album, “Lypophrenia” which was recorded at the prestigious Abbey Road Studios as well as the School Farm Studios in London was released in 2023.
Up next for Virgile is the highly anticipated last season of Netflix’s hit series “The Umbrella Academy“.
