Hard Copy: The Making of Alien from Titan Books
Every fandom seems to have a special day 
set aside to celebrate just being a fan. Firefly fans have September 20th, Star Trek fans have April 5th, Star Wars fans have May 4th and fans of Alien have April 26th. This year, while we are living in the shadow of uncertainty, we find we have something in common with the crew of the Nostromo. To quote Ripley, “Listen to me, if we break quarantine, we could all die.” Maybe that is over doing it just a tad, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Being trapped indoors has allowed for catching 
up with tons of movies and television shows. I don’t understand why I have been behind but I am finally am catching up on things and I started with Superman: Red Son. Superman: Red Son is based on the Elseworlds comic written by Mark Millar (Kingsman, Kick-Ass) and was published in 2003. This story looks at the life of Superman had he crash-landed in Russia instead of the heartland of America.

Training Simulations: VR from the RR (Using the Virtual Worlds to Escape the Pandemic Life)
I was on board with the Sony PSVR virtual reality 
system from launch. How could I not be? I dreamed of stepping into virtual worlds as a kid in the 80s. My day job is with Sony Pictures and prior to the launch there were a half dozen VR systems set up in the Sony building on 25th street and Madison for employees to try. I was there every day.

Some of you may recall from last year, my 
frantic search throughout the Javits convention center trying to find the company that was producing Lost in Space toys. In a cruel twist of irony I was lost and unable to find my destination. After bad directions, non-functioning elevators and having to juggle appointments I finally found the Well Played Toys booth. I vowed that it would not happen again this year and it didn’t. I love the Monday breakfast with Mattel. It is 
more than just a booth tour, it is an event. The Mattel booth is not accessed by just everyone since it is tucked away on one of the upper floors. The only way to get past security is to have an appointment and I have to say I enjoy being on the list. This year I skipped the breakfast part so I could get into the showroom before my colleagues. It didn’t go exactly as planned since I ran into someone I knew just inside the door. By the time we were done chatting the room began to fill. Continue reading
