Last week a small group of journalists, including me, were given the opportunity to have a chat with Kevin Murphy. Mr. Murphy is the Executive Producer of the hit Syfy show, Defiance. For those of you who are not familiar with Defiance the show set in the not too distant future (2046) where humans and aliens cohabitate on Earth. The Earth in 2046 is not just a war ravished planet it has also been terraformed by alien technology.  Defiance, although very much a science fiction show it has the feel of and old time western. For me, the western vibe comes from the fact that the town of Defiance is basically a frontier town. Defiance can be described as Gunsmoke with aliens.
